What is Dyslexia

Usually when people hear the word Dyslexia they think only reading, writing, spelling, and maths and concentration problems a child is having in school. Some associate it only with slow learners. Almost everyone considers it some form of a learning disability, but the learning disability is only one face of Dyslexia. It is an underlying Talent”.

We all start life as non-verbal thinkers, but those of us who do not move on to verbal thinking are at risk of developing dyslexia. On the other hand, using non-verbal (picture) thinking allows us on-going access to the high-speed creative thinking babies and toddlers use to learn. This is one of the main reasons for the gift of dyslexia.

The Three Factors of Dyslexia

  1. Picture thinker
  2. Talent to disorient
  3. Low threshold for confusion
  4. 1.Picture thinking vs. Verbal thinking

    Picture Thinking
    • Gained skill
    • Inborn talent
    • subconscious therefore fast
    Verbal Thinking
    • Progressive
    • Limited (no diversity)
    • conscious therefore slow

    2. Ability to register a mental image as if its real.

    • Is able to experience imagination as reality.
    • Getting mixed up with the perception.
    • Not quite sure of what's happening around them…

    3. Low threshold for confusion

    • Encounter with an unrecognized symbol/stimulus
    • Lack of recognition results in confusion
    • Confusion NEEDS to be solved!
    • Brain automatically disorients
    • Due to disorientation symbol/stimulus has been recorded “wrong”
    • Incorrect data causes mistakes when asked to reproduce/recognize the symbol/stimulus
    • Mistakes cause negative emotions
    • Many negative emotions lead to frustration
    • Frustration leads to compulsive solutions
    • “Therefore we have a learning difficulty called DYSLEXIA
